GSIA Master Class
The IAGG Global Social Initiative on Ageing (GSIA) invites applications from early career scholars for Master-class on Population Ageing & Work-Care Challenges in a Global Context
Purpose
To build capacity among early career scholarsin how the care needs of ageing populations around the world are/are not being met through adaptations in family relationships, developments in public and social policy, and change in employment practices.
Where
Dublin, Ireland, April 22-26, 2015 in association with the IAGG European Region Conference
Eligibility: Be registered in a doctoral program, or be within three years of having been awarded a PhD in a social science subject relevant to the master-class theme.
Program
Lectures by established scholars, individual mentor sessions, workshops, IAGG-ER conference symposium.
Cost
€150, to include all Master-class sessions and the Welcome Dinner. (Some bursaries will be available)

Each participant will also have an additional mentor session of 45 minutes, arranged individually with their personal mentor, to take place during the IAGG conference, on Thursday 23– Saturday 25 April.
The focus of the Master Class will be on supporting participants to conceptualise topics, build personal research agendas, learn more about how to get their work published and develop their scholarly networks. Lecturers will all be asked to focus their 30 minute talks on: (i) Key issues and debates; (ii) Theoretical and / or methodological challenges; (ii) Scope for developing new research. |
