Students History

The International Council of the Gerontology Student Organizations (ICGSO) was launched in 2005. Its aims are : get together gerontology and geriatric students worldwide to develop interest in international gerontology, enhance awareness of aging, increase student attendance at world and regional congresses.
The organization includes a representative from each IAGG member organization that has a student section, a representative from the International Students’ Network on Ageing and Health (ISNAH) and one from the Student Section of the International Network for Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA). It has currently 17 members and will have meetings every fours years during the IAGG World Congress.

Students Awards

IAGG Student Travel Grant : it was established in 2008 to provide funding for students to present their papers at the World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics, to be held every four years. Its’ purposes are:

  • To provide financial support for excellent students enrolled in Masters or Doctoral programs in the field of Aging to attend the World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics, making possible the presentation of high-quality research projects by new scholars.
  • To promote the integration of students from different cultures, allowing the exchange of experiences, the establishment of collaborative and exchange networks, thus narrowing the gap between developed and developing countries.
