Organized by IAGG, the Japan Geriatrics Society (JGS) and the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology (NCGG), the 4th Master Class on Ageing is aimed to train young geriatricians with research potential. Two international tutors and 11 Asian tutors have accepted to participate in this academic event. Abstract submission deadline: September 20th, 2013. Despite the increase of both the aging population and the number of institutionalized older people, clinical research in nursing home is still scarce. Research is however essential to improve the quality of care in nursing home. The improvement of the quality of care in nursing home will rely on the future evidences from researches performed in these settings, their feasibility in real life condition and the successful dissemination of these new clinical evidences.

A Clinical Core on “Implementing Frailty and Sarcopenia into Clinical practice” will take place prior to the International Conference on Frailty & Sarcopenia Research (ICFSR2014). This event is organized under the auspices of the IAGG GARN Network and with the collaboration of the Institute of Ageing, Autonomous University of Barcelona, the University Hospital of Getafe, Madrid, and TUFTS University, Boston. Will feature topics on research, definition, assessment, treatment, prevention, clinical practice.

The International Conference on Frailty & Sarcopenia Research (ICFSR2014) will take place in Barcelona, Spain on March 13-14, 2014 and will deal with the following topics: Biology of frailty and aging, Physical frailty and age-related body composition modifications, Cognitive frailty, Frailty in clinical practice and public health, Clinical trials and therapeutics, Biology of Sarcopenia , Animal models, Preclinical studies, Clinical trials, Functional assessment, Biomarkers and imaging, New drug deve

The Irish Gerontological Society (IGS) will host IAGG’s 8th European congress in Dublin on the theme “Unlocking the Demographic Dividend”. It aims to tap into the growing awareness that gerontological research can help us to understand the collective and personal benefits that we gain from population ageing, a better understanding of the barriers to realizing the full potential of the Demographic Dividend, and the advances in gerontological science which allow these barriers to be overcome in the most effective way possible.

As member of IAGG’s North American Region, the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) presented a bid to host IAGG’s 21st World Congress in San Francisco, USA for 2017. The Council voted unanimously in favour of this candidacy in view of GSA’s long experience in organizing major events and of the city’s important conference facilities. The theme of this future milestons will be “Global Aging and Health: Bridging Science, Policy and Practice”. All our best wishes to the Organizing Committee….
