The French Society of Geriatrics & Gerontology organizes its 33rd annual scientific meeting, the JASFGG, at the CNIT in Paris, the heart of Europe’s biggest business district. More than 1200 delegates are expected to attend this meeting intended for clinicians, researchers, geriatricians, gerontologists, other health care specialists from French speaking countries. The 23rd Alzheimer Europe Conference is set under the motto “Living well in a dementia-friendly society”. Alzheimer Europe and the Malta Dementia Society invitesyou to explore how our perceptions and image of dementia have an impact on the lives of people with dementia and their carers. This will include examples of good practice of involving people with dementia in activities and projects and the establishment of dementia friendly communities. The importance of ethical issues and a rights-based legal framework will also be addressed.

The Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG) will hold its 42nd Annual Scientific and Educational Meeting in Halifax, Nova Scotia, hosted by the Geriatric Department of Dalhousie University. This year’s theme “Aging…from Cells to Society” underlines the importance of multi- and interdisciplinary perspectives on aging as we explore the impacts and changes of aging, from our bodies to our society. Abstracts from all disciplines and all interests in aging, including research, practice, policy and related work are due before April 30, 2013.

Organized by IAGG, the Japan Geriatrics Society (JGS) and the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology (NCGG), the 4th Master Class on Ageing is aimed to train young geriatricians with research potential. The 6th edition of the conference CTAD2013 will once again bring the key leaders involved in clinical trials to appreciate the full spectrum of AD from an asymptomatic stage through dementia, discuss the development of the next generation of Alzheimer’s disease treatments as well as learn to harmonize the various neuro-imaging techniques and their analyses.

The International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing (IAHSA) organizes its 10th International Conference on the theme, “Connecting our Global Community”. Intended for leaders in ageing services, the event will connect providers, business leaders, researchers, architects, developers and others from around the globe. Faced with a fifth of its population that is 60+ years old, Shanghai has been developing its nursing home care industry rapidly.

The Autumn 2013 Scientific Meeting of the British Geriatrics Society will provide a packed scientific programme, with updates on a variety of clinical topics and parallel sessions covering several special interests. More information will be available soon. Abstracts will be invited from May 1 to June 1, 2013.

Despite the increase of both the aging population and the number of institutionalized older people, clinical research in nursing home is still scarce. Research is however essential to improve the quality of care in nursing home. The improvement of the quality of care in nursing home will rely on the future evidences from researches performed in these settings, their feasibility in real life condition and the successful dissemination of these new clinical evidences.

The 66th GSA Annual Scientific Meeting will treat the theme, “Optimal Aging Through Research”. Attendees will have perspectives on areas of research such as basic sciences, clinical sciences, behavioral sciences, or social sciences.
