An IAGG/AMPA Taskforce on “Iatrogenic disability” was organized at the AMPA (Association Monégasque pour la recherche sur la Maladie d’Alzheimer) meeting that took place on February 21-22, 2011 in Monaco. This paper is a review of the literature on functional decline in elderly hospitalized patients. It is the first stage in a project aiming to prevent dependence that is induced during the course of care.
