The 2nd Public Health Annual Scientific Conference will be hosted  by the Public Health Agency (NI) in partnership with CARDI and other stakeholder groups. The theme of the Conference will be Older People and it will focus on how public health innovations, research and practice are meeting the needs of older people. Details on the programme and registration will be circulated shortly.

The Australian and New Zealand Society of Geriatric Medicine (ANZSGM) will host the 2013 Annual Scientific Meeting at the Adelaide Convention Center. This is the second conference for Geriatric Medicine in Australasia. More information on the programme will be available soon.

The Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC) 2013 will celebrate 25 years of discovery, progress and change at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The 9th World Democratic and Ageing Forum 2013 will take place at the University of St Gallen and will address the theme: “The Power of Demography - Destiny, Crisis or Opportunity?” As the leading platform to address demographic and ageing issues in an interdisciplinary way, it is the aim of the WDA Forum to stimulate the dialogue and networking among experts, organisations and interest groups engaged in the discussion concerning “Demographic Change“. During its General Assembly in 1995 in New York, the United Nations decided that the term "older persons" should be substituted for the term "the elderly", in conformity with the United Nations Principles for Older Persons. The Congress will focus on the most relevant issues related to the main theme “Improving outcomes of Geriatric Medicine”, including healthcare practices, pharmacological and surgical interventions.  It will also be concerned with new challenges to health and aging, such as new information technologies.

The International Federation on Ageing (IFA) is launching the International Istanbul Initiative on Ageing. It aims to explore opportunities and innovative ideas as population ageing progresses specifically in the regions of the Middle East, Northern Africa and Eastern Europe. The 23rd Alzheimer Europe Conference is set under the motto "Living well in a dementia-friendly society". Alzheimer Europe and the Malta Dementia Society invitesyou to explore how our perceptions and image of dementia have an impact on the lives of people with dementia and their carers. This will include examples of good practice of involving people with dementia in activities and projects and the establishment of dementia friendly communities. The importance of ethical issues and a rights-based legal framework will also be addressed.
