Last December, the statement on Alzheimer's Disease drafted by IAGG's Immediate Past President, Renato Maia Guimarães, MD, MSc, has received support from Alzheimer International.

The goals of this conference are to define ageing in biological terms, to illustrate the unique aspects of treatment related to ageing, and to practically address treatment issues in the different types of hematological malignancies, including treatments like allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

This conference is organized around "Building Bridges for People, Policy and Practice" and will be held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart, Tasmania.

As member of IAGG's North American Region, the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) presented a bid to host IAGG's 21st World Congress in San Francisco, USA for 2017. The Council voted unanimously in favour of this candidacy in view of GSA's long experience in organizing major events and of the city's important conference facilities. The theme of this future milestons will be "Global Aging and Health: Bridging Science, Policy and Practice". All our best wishes to the Organizing Committee....

HEALTHY AND ACTIVE AGEING FOR ALL EUROPEANS “II”. In recent years great progress has been made in understanding the role of many factors in various syndromes and problems and of the impact of their interaction on health status, comorbidity, behaviour, sanitary costs and quality of life of older persons. This Congress will provide a unique opportunity for scientific interdisciplinary dialogue among experts in biological, biomedical, chemical, clinical, engineering, nursing, psychological public policy, and social sciences.

The Australian Association of Gerontology will host IAGG's IXth Asia/Oceania Regional Congress that will be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre from the 23rd-27th  October 2011. Focus will be made on "Ageing well together: regional perspectives". More than 1200 delegates are expected to attend: researchers, practitioners, academics and policy makers, working within the field of ageing.

After Rio de Janeiro, where the 18th IAGG World Congress was held in 2005 and Paris, that welcomed the 19th edition in July 2009, Seoul was chosen as the location for the IAGG’s 20th World Congress in 2013.
